Dan and Corey representing URDB on, stay cool, The Tyra Show. They documented Ann and Claire Recht (AKA ‘the world’s tallest female twins’) as they set a URDB record for Most Double Handed High-Fives Over A Men’s Volleyball Net By Female Twins In 30 Seconds.

NOTE: Though the net sags, the center of it is the regulation height of a men’s net (7’11 5/8”).

NOTE 2: Dan and Corey are positive Tyra made eyes with them, but this remains unconfirmed.

FWIW, this was taped a couple of months ago

Last Exit to Brooklyn

I ride/run across the bridge most days. Looks like they used to have stairs instead of gradual ramps. Wonder when that changed.

A sneak peek of the massive Bloody Mary in-progress we lowered Jimmy Fallon into last night on show. He set a brand-new world record: Largest Bloody Mary Garnished With A Late Night Talk Show Host. Will anyone beat this? Kimmel? Daly? Rose?
See all record clips from the show here.

What are you doing on New Year’s Eve? We’re, um, flying to Perth, Australia to document the World’s Largest Pajama Party.

Will Emily, Nigel and I go too? Not sure yet.

Tune in tomorrow night for the Universal Record Database, not the Universal Records Database as this image suggests. It’ll be us, we swear. We’re going to be on the show. For real. No fakesies.

In Search Of Radical Interns

urdb:

URDB HQ

In the best way possible, we at the Universal Record Database are swamped. There are only four of us working full-time, and we have, quite frankly, enough work on our plates to keep 20 people busy.

For the foreseeable future, this is an open call for FT or PT interns interested in joining our team. There are a ton of ways we could use help, but some major areas include:

VIDEO PRODUCTION:

- shooting/editing videos of records at our live World Record Appreciation Society events

- editing brand videos for partner presentations and PR opportunities

COMMUNITY MANAGMENT:

- contributing writing to our blog, Twitter feed and Facebook Fan Page

- emailing with our community, organizing offline meetups and livestream chats

RECORD MANAGEMENT/WIKI DEVELOPMENT:

- timing/measuring record submissions and uploading them to our site

- editing/structuring our Wiki-based Rulebook and Glossary

- serving as an admin/beta tester for record vetting tools (in development)

PR/EVENT PLANNING:

- organizing our near-monthly World Record Appreciation Society events in NYC and elsewhere

- reaching out to press and bloggers for pre/post event coverage

- sending out records to relevant niche communites

Our internships are unpaid, but college credit is available. We’ll also be staffing up in the months ahead, and would love to find people who start as interns and kick so much ass we’re left with no option but to hire them.

If you’re interested in an internship that’s equal parts fun, challenging and totally thrilling, please do the following:

1. Send us a note and your resume.

2. Set a world record, shoot it on video and submit it to our site. We won’t consider your application unless you do so.

Thanks in advance,

Team URDB (Dan, Corey, Marc and Rob)

About Us: The Universal Record Database is an open, community driven platform for world records. We’re built on a belief that everyone on earth has potential to be the world’s best at something. Launched in November 2008, our site has nearly 1500 world records from around the globe, with dozens coming in weekly. We’ve been featured on CNN, CBS Sunday Morning, ABC World News With Charles Gibson, Good Morning America and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where we’re recurring guests on the show.

Fastest Concoction Of A Sham-Wow Cocktail

Though recent appearances on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and at the Pitchfork Fest in Chicago have been fun, we are bonkers with excitement about this upcoming event. It’ll be our first-ever themed night of world records. And the theme? Fooooooood!

“Food records” doesn’t necessarily mean shoving hot dogs down your throat. Past records we’ve documented include Tallest Carrot Cake, Most Names Written On A Dry Piece Of Spaghetti and Fastest Time To Open A Can Of Alphabet Soup And Spell ‘PANTYHOSE’. Be creative. To join the bill and set a food-related record (or beat one from our site), email dan@URDB.org.

CURRENT LINEUP:

* Longest Cupcake Kebab - Nichelle Stephens and Rachel Kramer Bussel of Cupcakes Take The Cake and Nora Vetter of Nibbles by Nora

* Most Times Changing Order While Ordering Chinese Food Without Getting Hung Up On - Matt Vescovo

* Most Crustless PB&J Sandwiches Made By 10 People In 1 Minute - Hilary Hodge & Friends

We’ll announce a ton more records shortly, and also fill you in on details of an extremely awesome food-related opening act. Our house band Blast Off!!! will be back, rocking Crash Mansion the entire night.

Cost of event is $5, free if you’re unemployed. Advance tickets highly recommended.

* Named Best Oddball Night by New York Magazine

* Featured by CNN, BBC, CBS Sunday Morning, The New Yorker, The Huffington Post, The Wall Street Journal, ABC News with Charles Gibson, Inside Edition, and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon
