In Search Of Radical Interns
urdb:
In the best way possible, we at the Universal Record Database are swamped. There are only four of us working full-time, and we have, quite frankly, enough work on our plates to keep 20 people busy.
For the foreseeable future, this is an open call for FT or PT interns interested in joining our team. There are a ton of ways we could use help, but some major areas include:
VIDEO PRODUCTION:
- shooting/editing videos of records at our live World Record Appreciation Society events
- editing brand videos for partner presentations and PR opportunities
COMMUNITY MANAGMENT:
- contributing writing to our blog, Twitter feed and Facebook Fan Page
- emailing with our community, organizing offline meetups and livestream chats
RECORD MANAGEMENT/WIKI DEVELOPMENT:
- timing/measuring record submissions and uploading them to our site
- editing/structuring our Wiki-based Rulebook and Glossary
- serving as an admin/beta tester for record vetting tools (in development)
PR/EVENT PLANNING:
- organizing our near-monthly World Record Appreciation Society events in NYC and elsewhere
- reaching out to press and bloggers for pre/post event coverage
- sending out records to relevant niche communites
Our internships are unpaid, but college credit is available. We’ll also be staffing up in the months ahead, and would love to find people who start as interns and kick so much ass we’re left with no option but to hire them.
If you’re interested in an internship that’s equal parts fun, challenging and totally thrilling, please do the following:
1. Send us a note and your resume.
2. Set a world record, shoot it on video and submit it to our site. We won’t consider your application unless you do so.
Thanks in advance,
Team URDB (Dan, Corey, Marc and Rob)
About Us: The Universal Record Database is an open, community driven platform for world records. We’re built on a belief that everyone on earth has potential to be the world’s best at something. Launched in November 2008, our site has nearly 1500 world records from around the globe, with dozens coming in weekly. We’ve been featured on CNN, CBS Sunday Morning, ABC World News With Charles Gibson, Good Morning America and Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, where we’re recurring guests on the show.
